Cool Cup Results and 2011 Season

Congratulations to team 865, Lars Hansen, Jon Noller, and Rod Komis for their 2011 Dave Cool Icebreaker regatta victory.  Only nine boats braved the cold, wind, and rain for this year's event.  All four races were completed on Saturday, with the 20-30 knot winds and temps in the low 30's being too much for even this group on Sunday.  865 scored a solid win with wins in the first three races, followed by a third.  Mike Miller and John Peterson and crews tied for 2nd place, with Mike winning the tiebreaker, while Rich Baker scored the race 4 win to move up to 4th, one point ahead of Mike Bowers and team in 5th. 

A special thanks to John Klick, this year's "Spirit of Dave" award winner, for again getting us a keg of Heineken donated, as well as some great t-shirts to sell, proceeds from which went to the Fleet.  Dave Brasch again provided the mixers for the world-famous rum bar, while Jill Turner prepared a great "Uno de Mayo" fajita dinner. Looking ahead, there's plenty of great racing to be done.  The Sunday Champ series, Fleet 1 Champ, Thursday night races, Big Island races, and match racing all start very soon.  Next up on the social calendar is the "A" Series party, which we're hosting, on Sunday June 12.  See you on the water!
